With the 2026 Gower Walking Festival in full swing, the organising committee is already turning its attention to next year’s event. Would you like to become part of the team that runs the Walking Festival?

Following our fantastic launch weekend, The Gower Walking Festival has enjoyed three more days of wonderful walking - nearly 160 people on 13 more walks covering just over 63 marvelous miles around Gower, Swansea and the surrounding areas.

What a wonderful 1st weekend we had - great walking weather, eight wonderful walks covering a total of nearly 55 miles around glorious Gower, 138 people & quite a few happy hounds taking part.

Starting today and running till Sunday 13th September, we’ve got 35 gorgeous guided walks around glorious Gower and the surrounding areas in a programme packed with familiar favourites plus a number of exciting new routes and themes, all designed to ensure that there is something for all interests and abilities.

Booked onto a 2026 Gower Walking Festival walk?  Please review the checklist below before joining your walk.

You would be forgiven for thinking that the Gower Walking Festival comprised exclusively walks on the Gower Peninsula, but that’s not actually the case. In addition to several urban walks in Swansea city, we also have three fabulous walks that are within the pre-Norman conquest "Lordship of Gower” - a bit outside the area normally thought of as Gower.  

If you are one of the many people who’s regular walking companion has four legs rather than two, there are plenty of Gower Walking Festival walks that you can do together.

Fancy a line or two of poetry with your walking? The Gower Walking Festival’s official poet, Jim "the swim" Young will be joining us on a total of four walks this year, where he will read some of his beautiful coastal poetry - brief, reflective pieces about his beloved Mumbles and Gower coastline.

The village of Parkmill is popular as the gateway to the gentle stroll to Three Cliffs bay and, of course, as home to the Gower Heritage Centre. It’s also a fantastic jumping off point for a number of other great walks and we’ve included three in the programme for this year’s Gower Walking Festival.

You might think that the Gower Walking Festival is all about challenging, long distance hikes - but you’d be wrong. We also take our aim of offering walks suitable for everyone very seriously.

The Dylan Thomas Birthplace is at 5 Cwmdonkin Drive in Swansea's Uplands, where one of Wales's greatest writers was born in 1914.

The Gower Walking Festival has added three extra walks to its already extensive walk programme, bringing the total number of walks on offer to nearly 40.
