It is with great regret that we have decided to cancel the Gower Walking Festival 2020. The much-loved Gower Walking Festival was due to be coming to a close this weekend after a packed week of guided walks around our beautiful Gower coast and countryside but, like so many events, it was postponed because of Coronovirus.
We wanted to move the Festival to the Autumn. The situation with Covid-19 is changing on a weekly basis but with so many people still furloughed and the message from Welsh Government still clearly to stay home, we felt it was too soon to try and run the event in September – and possibly have to postpone again. We are a small Festival with limited funds and we couldn’t take the risk.
The situation is frustrating. Gower Walking festival has a pool of fantastic walk leaders and speakers who have spent an enormous amount of time devising a programme which caters for everyone. Our priority as a committee running a commercial event has to be keeping our participants safe. In the current climate we simply cannot guarantee a safe Festival for our participants and social distancing will remove the human interactions which are a vital component of the Festival experience. In considering all these factors and taking guidance from regulatory bodies and insurers, it is wholly appropriate that we cancel the Gower Walking Festival for 2020 and focus on delivering an even better one next year.
The walks will remain on this website so you can see what we have planned, but you are not able to book anything for now.
