WALKING WITH THE BARD OF THE BAY

Fancy a line or two of poetry with your walking?

The Gower Walking Festival’s official poet, Jim “the swim” Young will be joining us on a total of four walks this year, where he will read some of his beautiful coastal poetry – brief, reflective pieces about his beloved Mumbles and Gower coastline.

Once again, Jim (also known as the bard of the bay and the pebble poet) will be on the 6-mile Bays, Beaches & Bards walk which takes place on Monday 7th September. This lovely walk along the stunning coastline between the bays of Bracelet, Langland and Caswell also includes an inland trip to the remains of a medieval chapel. Sponsored by Surfside Cafes – this walk will include stops at all three cafes in Caswell, Langland & Rotherslade.

Jim will also read poetry he has written about points of interest on the following walks:

And, if poetry is your jam, make sure you also check out the 3-mile Literary giants to live jazz on Sunday 6th September. Beginning in Cwmdonkin Park, close to The Dylan Thomas Birthplace, this fascinating journey through the creative heart of Swansea, will follow an easy downhill route through the city, visiting buildings, streets and landmarks connected with both internationally renowned figures as well as the many lesser-known creative people who have shaped Swansea’s rich cultural identity. This walk will end up at the Swansea International Jazz Festival in the Marina.
