If you are one of the many people who’s regular walking companion has four legs rather than two, there are plenty of Gower Walking Festival walks that you can do together.
As in previous years we have one special walk specifically for dogs – the Dog walk to Whiteford Sands. This 5.5 mile stroll, which takes place on Saturday 12th September, passes through Cwm Ivy Marsh with views over to Pembrey and includes a picnic stop in a spot with great views of the iconic Whiteford Lighthouse.
In addition, well-behaved, well-socialised dogs are welcome on more than half of the other walks in the Festival programme – that’s 24 dog friendly walks. These offer your four-legged friends the opportunity to meet new friends and introduce them to new smells and experiences. In order to keep everyone safe dogs must be on short, controlled leads throughout the walks, except the Dog Walk to Whiteford Sands on which dogs may be let off their leads when the walk leader says so.
Please note we allow an maximum of 2 dogs per person. Owners must carry ‘poop’ bags and use when required. Be aware that we sometimes walk near farm animals and wildlife. Some dog-friendly walks will include stiles.
Assistance dogs are welcome on all walks.
