The Serpent Walk: Rhossili, Fall Bay and Middleton – 4 miles

The Serpent Walk is a dramatic 4-mile circular route exploring the wild western tip of the Gower Peninsula, linking Rhossili, Fall Bay, and Middleton through some of Britain’s most iconic coastal scenery.

Starting in Rhossili, the route climbs gently onto the clifftops, where sweeping views open across the vast curve of Rhossili Bay. The landscape here reflects a long history of coastal erosion, with landslips and changing sea levels shaping the headland over thousands of years.

The path continues towards Fall Bay, a remote and atmospheric cove carved into limestone cliffs, rich in birdlife and shaped by powerful Atlantic waves. Seabirds nest on ledges while wildflowers cling to exposed grassland.Turning inland, the walk descends towards Middleton, passing quiet farmland and evidence of historic field systems that reflect centuries of farming on the Gower.
The return to Rhossili completes a varied journey through cliff, cove, and cultivated land, combining geology, wildlife, and human history in a compact coastal circuit.
