NEW FOR 2026: Leave Only Footprints!

This year, Gower Walking Festival is offering a free, family friendly, organised litter pick on Swansea Beach.

The 1.5 mile, Beach Litter Pick walk is one of a number of exciting new additions to the programme this year. It will take place on Sunday 13th September, the final day of the Walking Festival, and offer both environmental and community benefits.

Whilst a beach clean helps to protect wildlife, improve coastal ecosystems and enhance the natural beauty of the shoreline, it also brings people together with a shared sense of purpose, to reinforce a legacy of leaving Swansea and the Gower area better than we found it.

Ulex Energy, a locally-based solar panel and battery installer is sponsoring The Environment Centre for this walk. Participants will gain an understanding of waste reduction, recycling and the impact of human behaviour on the marine environment from the centre’s volunteers and also learn more about how we can encourage sustainable tourism as well as demonstrating care for the environment by locals and visitors alike.

With a central meeting point and paved pathways, this is a walk for all the family and a way for all to enjoy the full splendour of Swansea Bay, all while giving something back.
