Forget Me Not Dementia Day Clubs and Gower Walking Festival Renew Partnership for 2026 Memory Walk

Following the outstanding success of last year’s event, the Gower Walking Festival is delighted to announce its renewed partnership with the Forget Me Not Dementia Day Clubs charity to host the annual Swansea Bay Memory Walk.

The gentle, flat, 4-mile walk will take participants from the Swansea Cenotaph along the scenic promenade, finishing at Verdi’s Caffe, Gelateria & Ristorante in Mumbles. Taking place on Saturday, 12th September 2026, the event aims to increase dementia awareness, honour club members past and present, and raise vital funds.

Last year’s festival walk brought together around 40 people raising nearly £5,000 for this fantastic cause. The 2026 event promises to be another uplifting morning.

Commenting on the partnership, Forget Me Not Dementia Day Clubs’ Lowri Jones said:

“We were so pleased with our ‘first’ annual walk last year and we would like to say a big thank you to the Gower Walking Festival for giving us its support and providing this opportunity again this year.”

Established in Swansea in October 2010, Forget Me Not Dementia Day Clubs were specifically created for people living with dementia and their carers to attend together. Today, the charity operates seven different clubs across the Swansea area, providing a social, inclusive, and volunteer-led environment that integrates members directly into the local community.

The clubs offer a much-needed lifeline to both individuals and families. Members gain opportunities for friendship and social support, while carers receive vital peer support, share tips, and access information from visiting professionals. Many carers find that the clubs provide essential respite, making life as pleasant and supported as possible.
