We are delighted to announce that Three Cliffs Coffee Shop/Pennard Stores has agreed to be a Gold Sponsor of the Gower Walking Festival for 2026.
A long-time supporter of the Festival, the Southgate business combines a post office; a fantastic shop, jam-packed with tasty treats, gifts and everyday essentials: as well as the ever popular Three Cliffs Coffee Shop, known for its great coffee and homemade cakes.
There has been a shop on the Pennard Stores site for well over 100 years.
The current owner Jamie Francis started the coffee shop in 1996 with just four tables, a little white kettle, one recipe for carrot cake and a passion. Opening in the winter, the team worked hard on its recipes and plans for when the sun shone.
Since then, the team has re-designed and extended its premises twice and spent every day searching for new tastes and products to ensure we always provide our visitors new and fantastic food and drink. Along with a dedicated team of staff (all of whom seem like part of the family) they are always trying to improve.
Commenting on the business growth, Jamie says:
“Coffee shops were so new in the 90s that when we launched, we set out to be half-tearoom-half-coffee shop, and our friends and other businesses were asking us: ‘Why would you want to open a coffee shop?’ They thought it was strange. But we wanted to serve authentic Italian coffee – this is pre-Costa and pre-Starbucks era – and we knew from day one that we wanted to be a coffee shop that was open 12 months a year.
“We have always said we’re somewhere you can go to with muddy shoes in the winter and sandy sandals in the summer,” he added. “And, we set out not to be a tourist attraction, we wanted to be somewhere local people felt they could come to on a cold day and in the middle of the summer. But we draw everyone, we have regulars that come in every day or every week and we see a lot of walkers and visitors too.”

The Press Gangs, Smugglers & Unsolved Murders walk on Saturday 5th September starts at Three Cliffs Coffee Shop. There are two lengths of this beautiful and interesting coastal and inland walk on offer a 6 miler and an extended 10 mile route.
