Join the Latch Gower Coastal Path Walk for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and Latch Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity, in partnership with adventure trekking specialist EverTrek, is inviting supporters across Wales to take part in a scenic yet powerful fundraising event set against the backdrop of one of Wales’s most breathtaking coastlines.

The walk offers participants a powerful way to raise vital funds and stand alongside children and families affected by cancer and can choose from three different routes, making the event accessible to a wide range of abilities.

On Sunday 13th September, during the Gower Walking Festival, the Latch Gower Coastal Path Walk for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, offers three ways to get involved:

  1. 24mile Gower Coastal Path Walk

A full coastal challenge for those looking to push themselves and fundraise in support of children with cancer and their families in Wales.

Fundraising focused – suggested target £250.

  • 12mile Gower Coastal Path Walk

A shorter but still rewarding challenge, ideal for walkers who want to fundraise while enjoying the beauty of the Gower.

Fundraising focused – suggested target £250.

  • 1hour Childhood Cancer Awareness Walk

During the final hour of the event, Latch families, staff, volunteers, partners and supporters will come together to walk in gold and raise awareness of childhood cancer.

Awareness focused – no fundraising target.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on the impact cancer has on children and young people. Latch exists to be here for families affected by childhood cancer in Wales, providing bespoke emotional, practical and financial support when it’s needed most.

Latch provides bespoke emotional, practical and financial support to families across Wales whose children have been diagnosed with cancer. Based at the Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff, the charity offers free family accommodation near the hospital, financial grants to ease the burden of treatment-related costs, and dedicated hospital and community based social workers who support families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. In addition, Latch delivers activities for patients and siblings, annual family holidays and specialist bereavement support for families coping with loss.

Funds raised through the 24mile and 12mile fundraising walks will help ensure this support continues for families across Wales. The final hour awareness walk brings our community together in solidarity, showing families that they are not alone and helping to raise visibility of childhood cancer throughout September.

We couldn’t do this without our amazing supporters. Whether you take on the miles or join us for the final hour, every step helps Latch remain here for childhood cancer in Wales.
