Join award-winning author and filmmaker David Brayley on a walk and talk event based around football heroes of Swansea Town FC’s golden age of the 1940s and 50s.
Starting at Alice Street, Cwmdu, David will explain the story behind his acclaimed film, Wonderland – The Alice Street Story. In the space of just 13 years after World War Two, five young men from this small Swansea street all represented Wales at full-international level, a feat unequalled in British professional football to this day.
Taking in key venues between Alice Street and the Swansea.com Stadium, David will guide you through the places and stories of many of the players who graced the Vetch Field for both Swansea Town and Wales in the post war period. Featuring locations relating to the likes of John Charles, Ivor Allchurch and Ray Daniel, if you’re a fan of sporting history and heritage, this is a walk not to be missed.
Please note this not a circular walk… be prepared to also walk back (not part of the guided walk). We would encourage you to use the bus as the ‘start point’ is in a residential area so, parking will be limited.
The walk is not suitable for children.
Well-behaved dogs on short leads can join the walk – see How to Book for the rules regarding dogs.
There are no toilets on this route.
Parking will be at your discretion.
