Record year for 2025 Photograph Competition

We received a record number of entries for the 2025 Gower Walking Festival photography competition. And the quality was so good that, for the first time ever, we not only had a winner but also awarded three runners up prizes.

An important part of The Gower Walking Festival is our annual photography competition where Festival participants are invited to submit photos from walks that they feel capture the essence of Gower. It’s always a tough call to pick the winner as Gower is never the same from one day to the next. For some, it’s the landscape, for others it’s beaches or archaeology and for others, it’s urban history or arts.

A total of 24 photos were submitted in the 2025 competition, and they were as varied as the diverse range of walks that made up the Festival each year, so picking just one winner was really hard.

After much consideration, the 2025 Gower Walking Festival organising committee decided that the overall winner was Zara Quli with her gorgeous sunset picture taken on the Golden Hour Photography walk. Zara who won a free ticket for one person on up to 5 walks in this year’s Gower Walking Festival.

In addition, the three runners up prizes were awarded – a photo of Pennard castle by Victoria Adams, Debra Nunan’s atmospheric picture of a rainbow over Rhossili Bay and Kevin Cocoran’s image capturing walkers on the way out onto the tip of Worms Head. Each runner up received a free ticket for one walk in this year’s Festival.

Commenting on the 2025 photography competition, Gower Walking Festival organising committee chair said: “It’s great to see the photography competition going from strength to strength. We were particularly thrilled to have the 2024 winner, Helen Tottey join us for in 2025 Festival and look forward to welcoming our 2025 winners back later this year.”

The 2026 photography competition will run from the start of this year’s festival on Saturday 5th September through to Wednesday 30th September. Full details will be available here in due course.
