Join us on a fascinating journey through the creative heart of Swansea, exploring the people and places that have inspired generations of writers, poets, artists, musicians and broadcasters.
Beginning in Cwmdonkin Park, the childhood home of Dylan Thomas, we’ll follow an easy downhill route through the city, visiting buildings, streets and landmarks connected with both internationally renowned figures as well as the many lesser-known creative people who have shaped Swansea’s rich cultural identity.
Along the way we’ll hear stories of Dylan Thomas, Vernon Watkins, Nigel Jenkins, Russell T Davies, Ludwig Wittgenstein and others, before calling at Swansea Railway Station to visit the Pete Ham (Badfinger) tribute and reflect on the city’s remarkable contribution to popular music.
The walk concludes at Swansea Jazz Festival, where we’ll enjoy an exclusive question-and-answer session with Dave Cottle BEM, one of Wales’ most respected jazz musicians and founder of the Swansea International Jazz Festival. Dave will share his experiences of Swansea’s musical heritage, the city’s thriving arts scene and the importance of nurturing creativity across generations.
This walk offers a unique opportunity to experience Swansea through the eyes of its creative minds, combining literature, music, art and local history with personal stories and places that continue to inspire today.

Walk leader, Clive Scott is an experienced Rambler walk leader. He plays a leading role in Bishopston and Pennard Walkers are Welcome, co-ordinates path maintenance volunteers, is footpaths officer for The Gower Society. But most of all, he just loves walking in our stunning coastal and countryside areas.
