Dramatic and beautiful Oxwich point – 4.5 miles

The walk from Oxwich Beach over Oxwich Point is a scenic 4–4.5 mile circular route taking about 2–3 hours. Starting at the beach and passing St Illtyd’s church, the path climbs gently through woodland and joins the Wales Coast Path, offering wide views across Oxwich Bay and the Bristol Channel. Highlights include sandy shores, limestone cliffs, rocky coves and coastal woodland rich in wildlife. The route is moderate (3 Boots rating) though some sections are steep or muddy. The return passes through woodland before descending back to the beach, making it a classic short Gower coastal walk.

This is an iconic walk around one of Gower’s most beautiful and dramatic headlands; through beautiful woodland and across open cliffs using a section of the Gower Coast Path.

There is a steep section at the start, with a number of steps but, it’s soon over, and this walk is too good to hurry.

Packed lunch is required.

The walk is not suitable for dogs.
