Gower Walking Festival

Annual Celebration of Gower

From Swansea Literary Giants to Live Jazz

easy-icon

Sample a flavour of the writing talent synonymous with Swansea in this walk, taking in Cwmdonkin Park in the shadow of Dylan Thomas’ home. It includes a section on Dylan’s close friend and fellow-poet Vernon Watkins, both in the group of artists known as the Kardomah Boys, reflecting their regular patronage of the Kardomah Cafe, then based in Castle Street. Journey’s end is the marina, where Swansea International Jazz Festival creative director Dave Cottle will address walkers on Swansea Jazz Club, the UK’s longest-running weekly jazz club, followed by an invitation to wander around the maritime quarter and enjoy some of the many free gigs there on the final day of the jazz festival. Please note this not a circular walk … arrange your own return on foot, bus or a lift. We encourage you to come by bus.
