Cefn Bryn is one of the hills in Glamorgan that seem to have been bound up with spirituality in prehistory, Burial mounds were built along and below the ridge and one of the thickest concentrations of these is around the Neolithic chambered tomb, Arthur’s Stone. We will be visiting this as the climax to an exploration of some of the best Bronze Age cairns, as well as a ‘’burnt mound’ a type of monument that some archaeologists think may have been a ritual sauna (though others prefer to see such mounds as places to cook), Walking includes some steep slopes and boggy areas, some possibly with shallow standing water.
