From South Gower RFC car park, Pwlldu lane a short distance in lane and then footpath across fields and along wooded east shoulder of Bishopston Valley via Knapp to Pwlldu. Overviews of the bay and The Needles, the succession of storm beaches and the limestone quarries. Path descent of 60 m to examine storm beaches and then leave the sandy bay (low tide) via The Needles and Bantam Bay to Graves End, involving a little scrambling (alternative route if wet and slippery). Ascent to summit of Pwlldu Head (97 m) to review history of glaciation and development of the widely evident ~65 m platform of south Gower. Inland paths via High Pennard and the wooded west flank of Bishopston Valley before descent to valley bottom. Path ascent of 60 m from valley via Backingstone back to Pyle Corner.

Walking poles and binoculars would be useful.
