Gower Walking Festival

Annual Celebration of Gower

Cwmdonkin park, Cockett wood and Rosehill quarry

moderate-icon

This is a walk with multiple views over the Swansea area. Locals don’t always know of these lovely green places and spaces that are interweaved into our local communities.

We start with a tour of Cwmdonkin Park, then climb the area known as 100 steps, don’t worry I think there are only 85!! At the top we will be on Pantycelyn Road and we will then do a figure of 8 loop. The first loop is 2 miles along Pantycelyn to the old Townhill college now being turned into housing, then down into Cockett woods – a lovely woodland you only usually see above you when driving along Cockett Road. We then skirt The Ganges and continue up towards the Phoenix Centre and back down to Panteclyn.

The second loop is 4 miles from Rosehill quarry, a community woodland which has a very interesting history. We then proceed to Mayhill, past the washing pond and the round school, which has fantastic views, and then into Bryn y Don Park.

We return via Terrace Road, The Mansion house and St James gardens back to Cwmdonkin Park where there is a cafe for refreshments at the end.
