Annual Celebration of Gower

Bone Caves of Gower and The Red Lady of Paviland

moderate-icon

Our walk begins in Porteynon then we will be walking past the salthouse and Skysea beach to ascend a steep quarry before reaching spectacular views over Overton mere. We will walk above the mysterious sea cave Culver Hole before descending to Overton Mere. From here we will take the coastal route to Long Hole enjoying the limestone plants and will discover the fascinating history of Gowers bone cave excavations.

From Long Hole there is a steady climb to Yellow top the Iron Age promontory Fort above Paviland cave. The extraordinary story of Paviland and Goat Hole will punctuate the point at which we will head back for the return journey through the lovely village of Overton to Porteynon.
